Rain and fog as it turned out!
A poll has been completed amongst the members of the Four Seasons Garden Club by the offices of Not Really a Polling Entity, Inc., and we've declared this year's Secret Garden Walk a success!
Despite the early morning showers and lingering fog, cool winds throughout the day and cloud cover, all of the gardens on the walk had a steady stream of garden fans.
We would like to extend our thanks to the gardeners who opened their gardens to the public for a day:
Helen and Art Rodrig (Our Hidden Garden)
Harry and Maggie Benn (All Aboard the Garden Express)
Michael Breen (Shaped by Storm and Shovel)
Pat and Gaye Morse (A Grand Plan for a Small Space)
...and to the Colergét Conference Center for Zen Peace and Enlightenment.
Although it is a bit self serving, thanks also to the members of the Four Seasons Garden Club for putting some extra effort into the care and keeping of the Margaret Myers Memorial Garden at the Kemper Center—particularly the committee members Rebecca Belmont, Kathy Herr, Terry Modory and Karen Taskonis led by the incomparable triple-chair leadership of Liz Dutton, Pat Morse and Jackie Schroeder.
The work that goes into the gardens featured on the Walks each year is above and beyond, and your efforts are recognized and deeply appreciated!
If you've been toiling away creating a secret garden, and you are bursting with pride and an urge to share your particular genius, please let us know!
Drop us an email with the subject line "My Secret Garden" and the committee will be in touch to set up an appointment to see your garden (usually late July through mid-September).
Preparations for this Secret Garden Walk are now under way! In fact, if you take into consideration the work these gardeners have put into their masterpieces, the preparations have been years in the making!
Stay tuned to this space for announcements about next year's Garden Walk. In the meantime, mark your calendars for the second Saturday in July!
